Impact on Employer Groups
Group dental policies with renewal dates on or after October 1, 2024 will be cancelled effective October 1, 2024. Policies with renewal dates before October 1, 2024 will not be renewed, and coverage will end on the renewal date. For more details, see CDN’s Notice.

Effective October 1, 2024, Covered California for Small Business (CCSB) will no longer offer California Dental Network (CDN) plans for new enrollments and renewals. CCSB will continue to offer Delta Dental and Dental Health Services as dental alternatives. Get the details.

To help groups that are losing CDN dental coverage, Delta Dental is making an exception to offer DeltaCare USA DHMO plans alongside another carrier’s DPO for eligible groups losing CDN coverage effective October 1, 2024. Here are the key details:

Notice regarding exit from California commercial group market:
Because Sun Life acquired California Dental Network, we have decided to streamline our group dental offerings by withdrawing our California Dental Network (CDN) business from the California commercial group dental market for effective dates of October 1, 2024, and later. We have notified the applicable regulatory departments of this action and have made the requisite filings for withdrawal.
Group Policies with renewal dates on or after October 1, 2024
If your group dental policy renewal date is October 1, 2024, or later, your group dental policy will be cancelled effective October 1, 2024.
Group Policies with renewal dates before October 1, 2024
If your group dental policy renewal date is prior to October 1, 2024, your group policy will not be renewed, and your coverage will end on your renewal date. You may elect to continue with your California Dental Network group policy until October 1, 2024, but the policy will be canceled as of that date.
CDN will continue to accept and process electronic and manual enrollment transactions through September 20, 2024. Please note that all additions/terminations and retroactive adjustments must be for coverage periods prior to October 1, 2024.
We plan to produce final invoices for group commercial coverage on or about September 27, 2024. To ensure this final invoice is accurate, any required enrollment updates must be processed by CDN by end of day September 20, 2024.
Care for patients
Our goal is to minimize any disruptions and continue to meet the needs of our Clients, enrollees and providers to the best of our ability. We will continue to process claims with dates of service prior to October 1, 2024. That will continue for 180 days after the date of service, even for claims received on or after October 1, 2024.
